When: Friday, March 24 2023 @ 12:00 pm - - 01:00pm
Event Type:

Where: , CA
Description: WILPF members (Women's Intl. League for Peace and Freedom) are beginning a Black History Month's series of silent vigils every Friday in February - each from noon to 1pm. Please join us at "our" Palo Alto corner, at El Camino and Embarcadero noon-1 any or all Fridays as we observe a month of Fridays in celebration of Black lives and culture, but also, in anguish, stand against the gun violence "culture" of our society, so on our minds from recent national gun violence, violence by police, local tragedies involving farmworkers, and the continuing violence in Ukraine.

We're building on our previous vigils to end violence - including the violence of unchecked climate change. We stand as partners with the Poor People's Campaign, and MLK's Beloved Community, and in support of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), as nuclear weapons pose the "ultimate" climate change and violent threat to life on our planet. We include in all our silent vigils, signs to end the violence in Ukraine.

So we return, this Friday, and following Fridays, to this theme of ending violence, in peaceful silent vigil. But we also stand for ACTION and urge a diverse group of protesters for peace and justice to join our small group of WILPF members, in our silent vigils - our signs and banners speak for us us - and to also choose personal and group ACTION for peaceful change.
For more information for attending and help planning our vigils contact us at wilpf.peninsula.paloaltor@gmail.com
