January 2022

Vigil for the 1st anniv. of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons at Livermore Lab

When: Friday, January 21 2022 @ 09:00 am - - 10:00am
Event Type:
Contact: Marylia Kelley, Dir.
Where: 4049 First St Suite 243
Livermore, CA 94551
Description: Join us to celebrate the TPNW that entered into force on Jan. 22nd, 2021. The treaty bans the development, testing, production, manufacture, acquisition, possession or stockpiling, transfer, control or receipt, use or threat to use, stationing or deployment of nuclear weapons.
We call on the U.S. to sign the TPNW. Our presence will educate workers and the public and contribute to the Treaty's power to change global norms. We'll have lots of signs and banners, including one with the Treaty's text. We will conduct a short reading of select sections of the treaty and name the countries that have ratified the TPNW.
On the 21st, gather with other peace and disarmament activists in the public area at the Livermore Lab West Gate, where workers enter, on the 21st, a work day at the lab, at the corner of Vasco Rd. and West Gate Drive in Livermore. Public parking is available on the other side of Vasco Road - turn onto Daphne Drive.
Wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Be prepared to celebrate this key treaty to abolish nuclear weapons!
