Description: Join our Bend the Arc: Jewish Action South Bay Chapter at the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors meeting to address community concerns about tasers and Chinedu’s death. More than 1,000 people have died after being shot with a taser by police officers. Coroners have ruled that the taser was the sole cause or a contributing factor in 153 of those deaths. Chinedu Okobi, an unarmed Nigerian-American man in our community, who died in October after an encounter with deputies from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department, is part of that shocking body count. The Board of Supervisors has invited a speaker from Axon, the company that manufactures and sells tasers. Chinedu’s family, Justice4Chinedu, Faith in Action, and others have arranged for speakers from the ACLU, SF Bar Association, and the UCSF Cardiology Department.
