Description:

What If They Gave A War and Nobody Came? Exploring Conscientious Objection
A two-session workshop for youth ages 14-18

Where do you stand on the use of violence and war? United States citizens approaching the age of 18 are required to register for the military draft. Although no one has been drafted into military service since the Vietnam War, the system remains in place and can be activated at any time. There are those who do not believe in participating in war as combatants under any circumstances and such people have been permitted to NOT serve in the armed forces by claiming to be "Conscientious Objectors."

You are invited to explore the idea of conscientious objection and your own feelings about war, peace, violence and nonviolence in this two-session workshop held 9/21 and 9/28. A light lunch will be served.

The workshop will be led by the Rev. Geoff Browning (Campus Minister Stanford University & Presbyterian Peace Advocate) and Mr. Craig Wiesner (Co-Founder of Reach And Teach, a Peace and Social Justice Learning Company).

Advance registration is requested so that we can plan food and space. Paste this link into your brower: http://bit.ly/1ASWUAm
