William Perry on Reducing the Danger of Nuclear Weapons

Dr. William J. Perry, former U.S. Secretary of Defense, will speak on Thursday, July 16, 7:30pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto, 505 E. Charleston Road (near Middlefield). The title of his presentation is "Reducing the Threat of Nuclear Weapons". Admission is free. The event is co-sponsored by Multifaith Voices for Peace and Justice.

Dr. William J. Perry is the Michael and Barbara Berberian professor at Stanford University, where he is a
senior fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. He is a member of the National
Academy of Engineering, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and recipient of the
Presidential Medal of Freedom. He was the Secretary of Defense in the Clinton administration from
1994 to 1997. His previous business experience includes founder and president of ESL Inc. (1964-77);
executive vice president of Hambrecht & Quist Inc. (1981-85); and founder and chairman of Technology
Strategies & Alliances (1985-93). His celebrated Wall Street Journal op-eds with George Shultz, Henry
Kissinger and Sam Nunn have drawn attention to the critical steps needed to reduce the enormous
threat of nuclear weapons.
